CCNA Study Plan: 6 Months From Beginner to 200-301 Certified
Here is a detailed, week-by-week CCNA study plan designed to get you from zero to exam-ready in 12 weeks. It assumes you can dedicate 15–20 hours per week. If you have less time, stretch the weeks but keep the checkpoint scores.

- Labs to Do: Configure IPv6 on routers and PCs, enable IPv6 on a switch, and verify with
show ipv6 interface brief. - Checkpoint Practice Test: 15-question mock on "IPv6." Score to hit: 60%. You only need the basics for CCNA.
WEEK 6: Routing Fundamentals & Static Routes
- What to Study: Router boot process, routing table, directly connected routes, static routes (including default routes), and administrative distance.
- Hours Required: 16 hours.
- Specific Resources: Odom Vol.1, Chapters 16–18. Jeremy’s IT Lab videos #22–#25.

WEEK 12: Full Review & Weak Area Repair
- What to Study: This is a catch-all week. Take a full-length practice exam (Boson ExSim or PractiseExam's full CCNA mock). Identify your weakest domain (e.g., OSPF or VLANs). Re-read only those chapters. Re-watch the corresponding Jeremy videos. Re-do those specific labs.

- Checkpoint Practice Test: Take a 100-question full mock. Score to hit: 80%. If you hit 80%, you are ready. If not, identify the questions you missed and re-study that topic for 2 hours, then retake a 50-question quiz on that domain.
FINAL 3-DAY SPRINT (Before Exam Day)
Before you lock in your final sprint, use this free CCNA study plan to reshape your remaining days around the topics that need the most attention.
- Day -3 (72 hours out): Take one final full-length practice exam under timed conditions (90 minutes for 100 questions). Review every single question – even the ones you got right. Write down the concepts you were shaky on. Spend 2 hours re-reading those specific sections in Odom. Do not start any new topics.
- Day -2 (48 hours out): Do a "lab blitz." Rebuild your complete network from Week 12, but this time, time yourself. Aim
Practise until the exam format feels routine — start with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) practice questions.
Before you walk into the exam, take this free CCNA readiness check to see which topic area still needs work.
