CCNP Enterprise ENCOR (350-401): Preparing for the Next Level

What ENCOR 350-401 actually asks of you

If you are staring down the CCNP Enterprise track, the honest first question is usually blunt: how do I pass ENCOR 350-401 without wasting months on the wrong material? The Cisco Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (ENCOR) exam is the shared core of the CCNP Enterprise certification, and it also qualifies you for the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure lab. That dual role is why it feels heavier than a single-topic exam - it is deliberately broad.

The exam is 100 questions in 120 minutes, delivered linearly. Do the arithmetic and you get roughly 72 seconds per question. That number matters more than most candidates expect. ENCOR is not a paper you can leisurely reason through; you need enough recall that configuration syntax, protocol behaviour, and design trade-offs come to you quickly, leaving thinking time for the genuinely tricky items. Another useful resource: How Long Does It Really Take to Study for Cisco ENCOR 350-401?.

The six domains and their weights

ENCOR spreads across six domains at fixed weightings. Infrastructure dominates, which reflects the reality that routing, switching, and wireless fundamentals are the backbone of enterprise networking. Study proportionally: the weights below are your revision budget, not a suggestion.

A free ENCOR study plan can turn those weightings into a schedule that fits the time you have before exam day.

Cisco ENCOR 350-401 exam domains and official weightings, verified 2026-08-24 from the Cisco exam topics page.
DomainWeight
Infrastructure30%
Security20%
Architecture15%
Automation and Artificial Intelligence15%
Virtualization10%
Network Assurance10%

Notice that Security and the automation-plus-AI block together carry as much weight as Infrastructure. Candidates who came up through hands-on switching often under-prepare here, then lose points on programmability, controller-based architectures, and assurance tooling. Treat those domains with the same seriousness as the routing you already know. See also Cisco ENCOR 350-401 vs Cisco ENARSI 300-410: Which One Should You Take First? for a complementary perspective.

Where a mock test helps - and where it cannot

A good mock test pack earns its place by exposing gaps under time pressure. You will find out fast whether you actually understand OSPF adjacency states or just recognise them, whether you can read a NETCONF snippet, and whether your wireless knowledge survives contact with a real question. That is the value of a practise exam: it converts vague confidence into a measured picture of what you know per domain.

Be clear-eyed about the limits, though. What this mock contains matters. The real Cisco Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (ENCOR) exam mixes multiple choice with performance-based items and drag-and-drop, and Cisco's simulated lab tasks cannot be reproduced here. This ENCOR 350-401 mock test is multiple-choice and multiple-response only. It covers every domain at its official weighting and matches the 120-minute limit, but you will not practise the simulation or drag-and-drop interface. You should still spend real time in a lab - Cisco Modeling Labs, physical kit, or a rented rack - because that is where the simulation muscle is built. One more honesty point: Cisco publishes no question count and no pass score for this exam. Anyone quoting you a fixed passing percentage is guessing. Because of that, our mock reports proficiency per domain rather than a single pass-or-fail score - inventing a number would only mislead you. Use the per-domain breakdown to decide where your next study week goes.

A prep sequence that respects the weights

Start with Infrastructure and Security, since together they are half the exam. Build a lab loop for anything configuration-heavy. Layer in Architecture and the Automation and Artificial Intelligence domain once your fundamentals are stable, then close out Virtualization and Network Assurance. Interleave a timed practise exam for enterprise networking every couple of weeks so the 72-second rhythm becomes second nature well before exam day.
