However, one factor complicates the decision: the single-sitting requirement. With IELTS, achieving 7.5 overall allows a small margin — you could theoretically score 8.0 in Listening and Reading to offset a 7.0 in Writing. With OET, there is no offset — every sub-test must independently hit 350.
When to Take the English Test

There is no limit on English test retakes. You can sit OET or IELTS as many times as needed. However, the GMC's single-sitting requirement for OET means you must achieve Grade B in all four sub-tests in one go — you cannot combine your best scores from two sittings.
