PRINCE2 7 Practitioner: What the Exam Actually Asks

What the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam actually asks

If you have already passed Foundation, the question on your mind is simple: how do I pass 7-PRACTITIONER without wasting weeks on the wrong material? The honest answer is that the Practitioner paper does not test whether you can recite the method. It tests whether you can apply it to a described project scenario and pick the defensible action. That distinction changes how you should prepare.

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam from PeopleCert has 70 questions and a time limit of 150 minutes. That works out to roughly 129 seconds per question, which sounds generous until you remember that most questions sit under a scenario you have to read and hold in your head. Delivery is linear, so you move through the paper in order. You need 42 marks out of a possible 70 to pass, which is 60 percent. You can explore this further in PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner): An Exam Strategy. You might also find What PRINCE2 7 Practitioner Actually Pays in 2026 helpful.

Where the marks live

The single most useful thing you can do early is look at how the marks are distributed across the syllabus, then weight your revision accordingly. Two areas, the practices and the processes, together carry the bulk of the paper. Do not spend equal time on every topic when the exam plainly does not.

To turn that syllabus weighting into a schedule that fits your available time, use a free PRINCE2 7 Practitioner study plan.

Applying the PRINCE2 Practices37
Applying the PRINCE2 Processes33

Applying the PRINCE2 Principles14

Read that table honestly. The practices and the processes make up the largest share of the questions between them, so a candidate who is fluent in tailoring the practices and in what happens inside each process is already most of the way to the 42-mark line. People in a project context and applying the principles carry meaningful weight too, but they are not where you win or lose the paper. This connects to what we discuss in AWS Cloud Practitioner Difficulty: What Actually Makes People Fail.

How to prepare for the way it questions you

Because this is an application exam, reading the manual cover to cover is necessary but nowhere near sufficient. You can know the seven principles by heart and still lose marks because a scenario asks which principle a project has breached, and the plausible-looking wrong answers are written to catch exactly that shallow recall. The fix is to practise against scenarios until the reasoning is automatic. Work through a realistic PRINCE2 7 Practitioner mock test under the real 150-minute clock, then review every question you got wrong and, just as importantly, every one you got right by guessing. The goal is not a score on practice day; it is to stop the scenario questions from surprising you on the day that counts. A 7-PRACTITIONER mock test that mirrors the linear format and the 70-question length also trains your pacing, so you are not stranded on question 55 with fifteen minutes left. We cover this in depth in Why PRINCE2 7 Practitioner Braindumps Fail You on Exam Day.

A realistic study plan

  1. Read the practices and processes first, in that order, since they carry the most questions. Make short notes on how each practice is tailored.
  2. Do a full-length timed practise exam early, before you feel ready. An early low score tells you where the gaps are while you still have time to close them.
  3. Review answers slowly. For each miss, write one sentence on why the correct option is correct and why your choice was wrong.
  4. Re-test on a fresh paper a week later. Repeated exposure to varied scenarios is what moves you from 55 percent to comfortably past 60.

If you are hunting for a solid practise exam for project management certification, pick one that reproduces the exam blueprint rather than a random pile of questions. Our packs are built to the weighting in the table above, so your practice time lands where the marks actually are. You can buy a mock test pack and start with a full timed sitting the same day.
