For the CCNA online exam or test center delivery, arrive early with a government-issued photo ID. The 120-minute exam requires identity verification and strict proctoring rules. Online proctoring availability for 200-301 is unconfirmed—check Pearson VUE before booking.
Before You Arrive
Print or save your exam confirmation email from Cisco CertMetrics. It contains your exam authorization number, testing center address, and exam date/time. Review it the night before and note the center's location, parking, and hours.
Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in. The test center may not admit you if you arrive after the appointment time.
Identification Requirements
You must bring a government-issued photo ID that matches your name exactly as registered with Cisco. Acceptable IDs include:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- National identity card
- Military ID
Bring the ID type specified in your confirmation email. If your ID does not match your registered name (e.g., due to marriage or a legal name change), contact Pearson VUE or Cisco Learning Network to update your registration before test day.
Test Center Check-In
When you arrive, tell the front desk your exam is with Pearson VUE and give your exam authorization number or name. They will verify your identity, confirm your registration, and escort you to the testing room.
The center will:
- Scan or photograph your ID
- Have you sign a test center agreement and non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
- Escort you to your testing workstation
During this process, you may be photographed or recorded for security purposes.
What You Can Bring Into the Testing Room
You can bring:
- A pencil or pen for notes on an erasable whiteboard (provided by the test center)
- Your exam authorization number
You cannot bring:
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, or other electronic devices
- Headphones, earbuds, or speakers
- Bags, coats, or personal belongings (leave them in a locker or secure area)
- Study materials, books, or notes
- Calculators (not permitted, and the exam does not require calculation)
- Wearable cameras or recording devices
During the Exam
You have 120 minutes total. There are no separate breaks; any time spent reviewing instructions, navigating questions, or troubleshooting technical issues counts against your 120 minutes.
Once you begin, you can navigate forward and backward through the exam. Most exam platforms allow you to flag questions to review later. If you get stuck on a difficult question, flag it, move to the next one, and return to it if time permits.
You have an onscreen timer showing remaining time. Pay attention to it, especially after the first hour when you should be roughly halfway through the exam.
Technical Issues
If the exam system crashes or you experience a technical failure, notify the proctor immediately. They will pause the exam, investigate, and restart you from where you left off. Cisco's policy is to give you the remaining time after a technical recovery, though exact procedures may vary by test center.
After the Exam
You will receive a pass/fail result on the screen immediately after submitting your final answer. You will also receive a score report showing your performance by domain. If you failed, the report shows your domain-level scores so you know which areas to study before retaking.
You will receive a printed score report at the test center. Keep this for your records, even if you passed—some employers or educational programs request it.
Online Proctoring for CCNA 200-301
Cisco's official documentation does not explicitly confirm whether the CCNA 200-301 is available with online proctoring via Pearson VUE at Home or similar services. Pearson VUE offers remote proctoring for some vendor exams, but CCNA 200-301's status is unclear.
Before booking, check directly with:
- Pearson VUE's booking portal (https://www.pearsonvue.com/cisco)
- Cisco Learning Network (learningnetwork.cisco.com)
Ask whether 200-301 is available online and in your region. This will help you decide whether to schedule at a test center or from home.
