AZ 400 exam cost and how to book it

If you searched for the az 400 exam cost expecting a single dollar figure, Microsoft does not publish one on the official AZ-400 exam page. This page explains exactly what Microsoft does say about price, and walks through booking.

AZ 400 exam price

Microsoft states that price is "based on the country or region in which the exam is proctored." That single sentence is the extent of Microsoft's public pricing statement for AZ-400: no base US dollar figure, and no separate figure for online-proctored versus test-centre delivery. The only reliable way to see your price is to start the booking flow on Microsoft's site or through Pearson VUE, sign in, and let the checkout page apply your region's pricing.

AZ 400 exam fee in India

Microsoft does not publish a separate India price note for AZ-400 on the exam page. As with every other region, Indian candidates see the applicable fee at checkout once they sign in and select a test location or online proctoring. Do not trust a fixed INR figure quoted anywhere that is not the Microsoft or Pearson VUE checkout page itself, since Microsoft's own wording ties price to region rather than publishing it upfront.

How to book the AZ 400 exam

AZ-400 is delivered through Pearson VUE. You have two delivery choices:

• Test centre: sit the exam at a Pearson VUE test centre near you.
• Online proctored: sit the exam from your own location through Pearson OnVUE, with a live proctor monitoring the session.

Booking happens through the scheduling link on the official exam page, which hands you off to Pearson VUE to pick a date, location or online slot, and pay.

AZ 400 voucher

Microsoft's AZ-400 exam page does not list a standing voucher program specific to this exam. Vouchers sometimes appear through Microsoft events, partner promotions, or training bundles, but none of those are guaranteed or permanent offers, so this page does not claim one exists. Check the official exam page and your Microsoft Learn profile directly for any voucher eligibility rather than assuming a discount applies.

Retakes and what they cost you

If you do not pass on your first attempt, Microsoft's retake policy requires a 24-hour wait before you can try again. After that, each subsequent attempt requires a 14-day wait from your most recent attempt, and you can take the exam a maximum of 5 times within a 12-month period counted from your first attempt. Each attempt is billed at the standard exam price for your region — Microsoft does not offer a discounted retake fee for AZ-400.

Taking it from India

For candidates booking from India, the process is the same as anywhere else: Microsoft does not publish a separate India price on the AZ-400 exam page, so the fee shown at Pearson VUE checkout in your account is the number to trust. Both test-centre and Pearson OnVUE online-proctored delivery are available, so choose based on your location and whether a suitable test centre is nearby. Confirm your exam language before booking, since AZ-400 is offered in several languages but not necessarily at every test centre location.

Where to go next

Before you book, confirm you meet the recommended background on the prerequisites page, review the exam format and scoring so you know what you are paying for, and check the exam-day guide for check-in requirements. If you are weighing whether you are ready to pay for a first attempt, our practice test and sample questions are built to the same domain weighting as the real exam.

Exam facts on this page come from Microsoft’s own pages (official exam page). Prices, versions and policies change — confirm there before you book.
