The DOP-C02 exam pattern is 75 questions total, 65 scored and 10 unscored, answered in 180 minutes. Questions are multiple choice, with one correct answer among distractors, or multiple response, with more than one correct answer. A passing score is 750 on a scale of 100 to 1000. The exam is delivered at a Pearson VUE test center or online with proctoring.
The DOP-C02 exam pattern for AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional is set by AWS and delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a physical test center or online with proctoring. Knowing the exact pattern
- how many questions, how much time, and how scoring works - lets you pace yourself instead of discovering
the format for the first time on exam day.
How many questions are on DOP-C02, and how long do you get?
You will see 75 questions in total: 65 of them are scored, and 10 are unscored questions AWS uses to evaluate future exam content. You are not told which questions are unscored, so every question should be treated as if it counts. You have 180 minutes (3 hours) to complete the exam.

| Time allowed | 180 minutes |

What question types does DOP-C02 use?
The exam uses two question formats. A multiple choice question gives you one correct answer among distractor options. A multiple response question requires you to select more than one correct answer out of a longer list of options, and you get no credit for a partially correct selection. Multiple response questions generally take longer to work through because you have to evaluate every option rather than stop once you find one correct answer.
How is DOP-C02 scored?
AWS reports your result on a scaled score from 100 to 1000, and the passing score is 750. The scaled score is not simply the percentage of questions you answered correctly; AWS converts your raw performance across the exam into this scale using its own statistical model, which also accounts for the unscored questions without you knowing which ones they were. You receive a pass or fail result along with a score, and a breakdown of your performance by domain, which is useful for knowing where to focus if you need to retake the exam.
Online proctoring vs test center
DOP-C02 can be taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring, based on the facts published on the official exam page. Both options use the same question pattern, time limit, and scoring; the difference is only in where and how the exam is proctored. If you are deciding between the two, our cost and booking page and exam-day guide cover what to expect from each option.
How the mock matches this pattern
Our mock reproduces the real question pattern closely: it draws from the same six domains, uses a comparable time allowance, and mixes multiple choice and multiple response questions the way the real exam does. See exactly what our mock reproduces on the practice test page, and see how these domains break down by weight on the exam objectives page.
What this pattern means for your preparation
A 180-minute exam with 75 questions gives you a little over two minutes per question on average, but that time is not evenly needed - multiple response questions and scenario-based multiple choice questions typically take longer than straightforward recall questions. Budgeting your time in the exam, and practicing that budget beforehand with a timed mock, is one of the most direct ways to avoid running out of time on the real DOP-C02 exam. See our prerequisites page if you are still deciding whether you are ready to sit this exam, and our study plan to build a preparation schedule around this exact pattern.
